Hello everyone, I'm a new member and not exactly sure how far this forum stretches but I was just seeing if anyone else has had or is having their phalloplasty with Dr. Salgado in Miami, Fl. I am having mine done November 26, 2013 and mine was a 2 stage process.
The first stage was the creation of the neourethra in the graft site (forearm) that is later being used for the phallo. He took skin from my thigh and wrapped it around a foley tube and placed it in my arm. It has been healing and forming now since he did this procedure August 13, 2013. The tube is still in my arm and I have had some minor complications with it I can share if anyone is interested. But this will be my urethra for the second stage and he said he has had less connection failure when he does it in this 2-stage process.
Anyway, I have a secret group on facebook where I am sharing videos and pictures of the progress. Alot of guys in the group have connected over from Youtube. If you're interested in joining just let me know.

Thanks for this, and congrats on your final surgery stages!

I've chatted with Dr. Salgado a couple of times; it's great that there's a new surgeon available for phalloplasty in the States! And U of M sounds like a great facility. I'm interested in hearing more about the urethral pre-fabrication; it's a technique I think I've only come across with the Thai surgeons before.

Can you please add me to the FB group?

(November 26th is going to come up fast, awesome!!)

Sure thing I will add you! U of M hospital is pretty good. I had a rough go-around my first stay there for my hysto but everything since then has been much improved. Less than 4 weeks now! I'm getting anxious, nervous and excited!

Congrats on your surgery! I'm in the early stages of searching for a surgeon in the US and the prelaminated urethra technique that Salgado uses is of interest to me. I'd love to join your facebook group if you don't mind. https://www.facebook.com/mrjesseandrew

Thanks!
Jesse

Congrats. ISomeone just told me about this surgeon. Glad to know there is someone new on board. I have a questions for those of you who are or have done surgery with this surgeon, did you guys get coverage through your insurance or did you at out of pocket. I have Atena and I'm in the middle of confirming coverage for phalloplasty.

Thank you.

Dr. Salgado accepts insurance, but I don't know if Aetna is one of them.
