Would love to hear other experiences after meta with UL, v-ectomy and scrotoplasty. I am 9 weeks post op, my phallus is completely buried, I have at least 3 fistula and am regularly oozing fluid to the point of having to wear a men's incontinence pad, and still have extreme discomfort sitting properly. I was told by my surgeon after 5 weeks that the problems were "mostly in my head" from my "disappointment" in the results. Am I an anomaly here?

Also, who has had mons revisions and how did it turn out? Any complications? I have lost all faith in the words of surgeons at this point.

Thanks in advance.

Ugh, I'm really sorry that your surgeon hasn't taken your concerns seriously! Buried penis can sometimes be corrected with traction/jelqing (once healed enough to do so.) Hopefully one or more of the fistulas will close on their own. I had a huge looking fistula that closed very quickly, but then another really small one that required surgery. It was probably around week 8 or 9 that I was able to sit in a chair, still leaning on a butt cheek, to eat a meal. Hopefully someone who's had a mons resection can chime in. Hang in there! Even if you require additional surgeries, there's still reason to believe that you can hit your surgery goals. If you do need fistula repairs and don't want to go back to your original surgeon, consider Dr. Nikolavsky in Syracuse. He's a reconstructive urologist who does a lot of post-op repair work.

Joshua- thanks for your response. It is helpful to know that other guys who have gone through these procedures had a similar path to mine regarding recovery. I was questioning my own sanity based upon my surgeon's response and advice that I could travel back cross country to go home and return to work at 3-4 weeks.

Yeah, 3-4 weeks seems early! I didn't have to travel across country, just two short flights, but I found that taxing enough. I wanted to be close by my surgeon at that stage of recovery anyway (and that turned out to be a good choice.)

Are you having any success with keeping the fistulas dry? I spent time spreadeagled in front of a fan every day to help with that.

I have stayed in San Fran (I live in NC), and am so fortunate to have had that luxury, since surgery. I plan to continue to stay through my mons and revisions recovery, which I hope will only take a month or so.

I had not thought about sitting in front of a fan, but I do use a hairdryer each time I bathe (twice/day), wear gauze (the pads rub in all the wrong places) and sleep with a towel between my legs.

Have you considered phallo or are you happy with meta? I was so hoping to be content with meta. Phallo recovery scares the hell out of me.

Oh, I actually had Phallo. I seriously considered Metoidioplasty though. I was expecting the worst with recovery but it actually went much better than I expected. 7 weeks after stage 1, I went to a huge concert and a week later I was partying at Red Rocks, albeit with a cane. I didn't get everything I'd hoped for with Phalloplasty, but I'm relieved to have gotten through it relatively unscathed.

That is amazing! Congrats on your results. If you wouldn't mind sharing what was disappointing about phallo and which type you had (and why)?

I had ALT Phalloplasty. There was no way I would consider RFF mainly because I'm a guitar player. (Also, I have very small forearms and no fat on my arms, so I would have required an erectile implant for aesthetics and I had no interest in the implant.)

My top priority was to be able to STP without a lot of urethral complications. That worked out very well and has made a huge difference in my life. My second priority was aesthetics and I came out OK in that regard. My aesthetics are negatively impacted by my lack of balls. My scrotum wound up too far between my legs and my testicular implants had to be removed. Very disappointing. My glansplasty also failed. My third priority was sensation and that hasn't worked out. I didn't gain any erogenous sensation in my penis. I have my natal sensation but unexpectedly--because I've never heard anyone mention this before--it makes me uncomfortable to stimulate because that just feels way too female. As a result, I'm no longer interested in sex.

If I could do it all over again, I'd make all the same choices I did, so at least I'm not living with regret. You win some, you lose some. The fact that I have a penis and can pee through it are super important to me and so despite my disappointments, which some would find pretty devastating, I still feel like I came out on top.

Sorry, somehow I missed your prior post. I hate you have gone through that...must have been difficult. Was there any explanation as to why you did not regain sensation? Was it both tactile and erotic?
