Hysto covered by Medicaid? - tomcat1981 - 10-14-2015 I live in Idaho, and I am pre-op, pre-T. I want to get a hysto before I start on hormones (which will be soon, since I have an appointment with my endocrinologist already set for the end of this month). Does anybody know of an (affordable) place I can get a full hysto done in Idaho (or maybe Utah). Or a way/reason that Medicaid would cover the procedure? I'm 34, have no kids, and I'm a heavy bleeder, have PCOS and painful menses, so maybe that info will help to know. What can I say to get a doctor to decide to convince them that I don't need this stuff inside of me anymore and I don't want to just be put on birth control (which does not help!) Thanks in advance for any help, guys! RE: Hysto covered by Medicaid? - Joshua - 10-14-2015 There are no explicit policies regarding Medicaid coverage for trans health in Idaho or Utah: http://www.transequality.org/issues/resources/map-state-health-insurance-rules If you are still registered as F with Medicaid, you may be able to have the procedure covered due to pain, PCOS, etc. Dr Ashley Davis in Boise works with trans men. In Utah, Dr. Rixt Luikenaar comes highly recommended. She holds monthly trans clinic and uses informed consent. Dr. Joann Hinson in Salt Lake City also works with trans men. RE: Hysto covered by Medicaid? - gen1392 - 11-16-2015 i am pre-op and pre-t so i have healthnet medi-cal insurance so i am not legally male yet but i was living as a male for 2 yrs now. RE: Hysto covered by Medicaid? - katniss9 - 06-01-2018 I know someone from Utah who's an expert when in comes to Utah Medicaid who can help you out, you can reach her at https://www.utahseniorplanning.com RE: Hysto covered by Medicaid? - Joshua - 06-01-2018 Thanks for posting that helpful link, katniss! The Transgender Program at OHSU in Portland OR accepts out of state Medicaid. https://www.ohsu.edu/xd/health/services/transgender-health/ Closer by is the Transgender Program at the University of Utah. https://healthcare.utah.edu/transgender-health/ob-gyn.php ...but I've only heard that they take Medicare specifically, not Medicaid. In either case, travel and accommodation expense remains an issue. |
