No actual nipple - tomcat1981 - 10-14-2015 I had a consult with Dr. Cori Agarwal in Salt Lake City, Utah some years ago. The consult was free. She told me that she would have to do a DI with a nipple graft because of my chest size. What concerned me is that she said that after the nipple graft, I would have no actual nipple. I kind of thought that sounded weird. Is that normal? I have had surgeries before where there was nerve damage and I have no real feeling (except neuropathy!) there, so I kind of am prepared for what my new-and-improved chest will FEEL like, but I still am wondering: no nip? really? RE: No actual nipple - Joshua - 10-14-2015 Many surgeons will create a small protrusion for a nipple in the nipple/areola graft, but not all surgeons do this. Also, this protrusion can flatten out on some guys. Sensation will likely be under the graft, not in it, as the nerves in the nipple stalk are cut and are not microsurgically connected. ps. Here's a recent set of surgery photos from a patient of Dr. Agarwal. It looks like she created nipples in the graft. Maybe she has updated her procedure since your consultation. Thank you so much for that information! I feel a TON better about going to her now... She is the nearest doctor there is to where I live. RE: No actual nipple - Joshua - 10-14-2015 You'll be in good hands, she's been doing Top Surgery for several years now. |
