ALT Phallo with Dr. Berli - Joshua - 10-19-2018 I had my stage 2 surgery last week with Dr. Sajadi and Dr. Berli. For some amazing reason, I've had zero surgical site pain and needed only one shot of Dilaudid in hospital. No Oxy at all, thankfully. (I really don't like that stuff. I filled my Rx of it just in case things got bad but I'm waving garlic and rosaries at it, lol!) Just Tylenol and Ibuprofen since. I expect some bumps along the way, especially around catheter/UL stuff, but so far, so good! Any questions, feel free to ask. RE: ALT Phallo with Dr. Berli - Joshua - 12-05-2018 Since my only prior experience with Phalloplasty was my Stage 1 surgery in May, I have only that compare to, but it’s like comparing apples and oranges. Though Stage 1 did prepare me somewhat for Stage 2, especially in terms of logistical planning, the surgeries and recoveries are quite different. Even though my hospital stay for Stage 2 was shorter and easier, I had much less pain than I expected, and the wound care was generally less involved, there were more wounds to deal with and several bumps in the road, which combined made recovery more mentally taxing compared to Stage 1. And let’s not forget catheters! Ultimately, Stage 2 Phalloplasty recovery is a unique experience that I couldn’t have fully prepared for, even with Stage 1 experience under my belt. I hope that you've had no problems since then. I'm curious which procedure you had. Did by chance you have the Abdominal site surgery? The reason I ask is I went to him for a consult a couple of years ago and that's what he told me I needed. Since then I've heard that he tells that to 'everyone'...whatever that means. I certainly hope you had a better experience with him than I did. He was um...at minimum transphobic...and I'm being polite. Man-O-Man. RE: ALT Phallo with Dr. Berli - Joshua - 09-02-2019 Thank you! I did wind up having some problems... I lost my testicular implants unfortunately. Dr. Berli and I never discussed abdominal phallo. I wasn't a candidate for RFF but I was for ALT, that's what I had. My consult was in Feb 2017. I've not heard that he tells everyone to go for abdominal; I'd expect him to suggest whatever he thinks would have the best outcome. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a good consult. I've heard people say that they found him cold and that he talked fast, but my experience has been quite the opposite. We have a good rapport. Have you consulted with anyone else since? |
