I have my consultation with Dr Schechter in Chicago coming up next month. Has anyone had phalloplasty (or meta) with this surgeon? I'm just looking for ideas as to what kind of results I can expect, his specific technique, bedside manor, sensation, etc. I can include more specific questions later. As of now, I intend o get RFF with urethral lengthening. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am not a patient of his, however I know several who have consulted and are in the world of approval. I've sent them a link to this thread. Hopefully they join in. There's also another guy on YouTube I ran across yesterday he's going to Schechter. You may want to see if you can look him up on YouTube?

From what my brother said he has a book in his office and the result look nice. I haven seen either so just as curious to see though I went to Crane for my phallo and Miro for my metoidioplasty it's always interesting to me others work.

Take care

I appreciate your response. I booked my consult for late February, and I have gotten prompt responses from the office staff for all of my questions. They took care of looking into insurance for me, and they booked my electrolysis appointment for me on the same day, so that's very helpful. I even received a phone call from the surgeon himself (from his home!), all without having to pay for any of it. These things give me confidence that he actually cares about his patients as people.

I will keep this forum up to date on everything because I feel that it is really important for all of us to get info out there for others to research. I know I have searched and searched to find answers to my questions because there just aren't that many people going through this.

Thanks, I will make sure to let the guys I know going to take a look here as you go through your process. It's awesome to hear he has a very caring manner that's important in this process. You have to feel totally comfortable with your Dr. That's another reason I was so relaxed dealing with Crane the level of comfort was awesome. I wish you much luck!

Which donor site are you using I'd you don't mind my curiosity? I had thigh or ALT.

I'm using forearm. Now I'm trying to figure out of I need electrolysis or not as the outline they sent for the urethral graft shows an area I don't appear to have any hair.

Even if it doesn't appear to have hair still get the electrolysis done. There's always hair and when the flap is shaved during surgery sometimes it stimulates not seen hair to be more visible. I did electrolysis on the entire donor area but there is still more that needs to be done. I'll be having more sessions to remove the remaining hair but for now I just simply shave it.

Also, how much does electrolysis cost? I would like to do the whole graft prior to surgery, if possible. My arms are not that hairy, but it seems as if it would be less awkward having hair removal to my arm than to my penis.
