Hello All,

Lovely to meet you.

What brings me here is support and for today simple question in which I am hoping someone could answer.

I quit smoking cigarettes months ago in order to proceed with my surgery. My question is if they will also be blood testing for marijuana.

Anyone out there have a clue?

Thank you!

-Gino.

Hey Gino! Good question. I've never heard of being tested for MJ before surgery, or of a surgeon having a problem with MJ in relation to Top Surgery. The problem with smoking is the nicotine, which delays wound healing. Smoking MJ can cause coughing which isn't ideal in the days after surgery, so vaping or edibles are a better idea at that stage.

If you want to be 100% certain, talk with your surgeon. There's a lot less stigma around MJ these days.
