Friend request sent! Then I can invite you. The group is not specific to phalloplasty, more of a general group for trans men, but there's been surgery discussion on it.

In the interests of protecting patients' relationships with their surgeon, and because that group is private, I have removed your last comment Michael. I'm happy to elaborate in a PM if you would like further explanation.

Well, last post this time around, but people should know if a surgeon is no good and it's not like I gave out the guys name.

Good day, good luck since you don't encourage honesty.

You are correct: openly discussing someone else's surgery experience--when they have explicitly been private about it--is not appropriate here.

I believe Dr. Salgado charges in the area of $45K for phalloplasty. You can find more information about him here: http://prettyboicris.wordpress.com/2014/...-surgeons/

This is been discussed several times in other spaces but I wanted to ask here as well, Josh, is there any appropriate forums where guys can discuss the bad situations they have had with surgeons? There are many who have experiences that they need to share (for therapeutic reasons but also other reasons) but can not because they are always ridiculed or told to pipe down or told it is their fault for complications. This has gone on from top to bottom surgeons. We share openly the experiences that are good but I think apart of making informed decisions is having both sides dually. Of course sharing names and personal stories of others without his consult is never a good thing but those who want and need to express the bad with the good will there be a space here for that? Maybe a private group?

Yeah, this circumstance was problematic because the poster was discussing another person's negative experience, and even without names this could have easily identified the patient to the surgeon, which in turn could have jeopardized that relationship in a time of surgical complication. Not good. Sadly, the poster didn't understand this, got huffy and left.

As to your question, I don't have an answer. There are lots of private groups available already, and while they are helpful many of these spaces can also be intimidating and competitive. Good or bad, I imagine I will find my best support via one-to-one conversations. (That's how it worked out with a previous surgical complication.)
